  1. Automatically create DNS entries when creating a droplet

Once a droplet is up, we get a reverse DNS entry associated with the IP. That's great :-)

Having DNS management on DigitalOcean is also great.

But -- you could take that one step further. Having delegated the ".do.XYZ.QW" zone to DigitalOcean, when starting up a server I use "name.do.XYZ.QW" as the hostname.

Yet I have to create the A record manually. Not a big deal, but it could be easier :-)

Since the zone is already managed by DO, how about creating a matching A record automatically?

    • Allow Droplets to be automatically bootstrapped with Chef

It would be *sick* if it were possible to have systems be automatically bootstrapped with Chef upon creation. e.g. Users could set up recipes and roles in the DO control panel somehow, and then pick a role to automatically create a Droplet from.

Additionally, users could share their Chef stuff with each other, which would allow everyone to benefit from the magical auto-provisioning. And, it's more transparent than allowing users to share pre-built images, since anyone can inspect the code for the Chef recipes before using them to provision a Droplet.

Or, even better than managing Chef stuff through the…

        • List snapshot/backup pricing on the web page

You list that your service offers both snapshots and backup images. However, the website doesn't offer pricing information on this. Are they free? Are they limited? If they're free, note that. Ambiguity is terrible for getting people to make a decision. If there are limits, it would be nice to know about them.

          • Allow users access directly to VNC nodes instead of noVNC

Current system has several drawbacks :

            - vnc enable sometimes hangs for hours and users are unable to do anything
            - noVNC doesn't have a full-screen option, developer doesn't have time to implement scaling
            - requires browser

I suggest you allow users to connect directly to the VNC nodes using any VNC client.
I understand security concerns, you can have the "VNC" enable function open a random port, and keep it open for new connections only 30 seconds for example.

            • DNS UI issue, resizable text boxes

I've started using DO's DNS management. The issue is for DNS records which have long strings such as TXT records the name is usually small and fits the page width but values are long enough to not fit in the text box.

The suggestion is to make the text box responsive to string length and expand vertically to become an area textbox; in the present UI when I do something like drag to go to end of the line, the UI breaks and squeezes to the left and I've only option to reload the page.

              • Provide a way to know the source for Backups/Snapshots

When a backup is executed, if I changed the name of droplet, after several backups/snapshots I cannot know where that snapshot/backup was taken from.
Probably agood way to solve this is to add a new field to images called droplet_id (via API), in order to know the droplet where the snapshot or backup was taken from.

                • Progress bars need to be useful

For example, creating a snapshot there is no way no know how long it will take. The progress bar simply stays close to the beginning forever.

                  • Make tickets open their own page

It would be great if tickets opened in their own page, or in a popup box. It is hard to keep track of what is happening, especially with multiple open tickets, and I missed some replies because there was just kind of a jumble of boxes everywhere.

The slide works great for simply reply tickets, but longer ones become a pain. Maybe a button to open in a new window or something?

                    • Use local /etc/apt/sources.list entries for amsterdam debian servers

The default sources.list entries for all droplets are the us debian mirrors... the speed of update and upgrade increases dramatically if you use the local Dutch servers...

deb http://ftp.nl.debian.org/debian stable main contrib non-free

                      deb http://ftp.debian.org/debian/ wheezy-updates main contrib non-free

                      deb http://security.debian.org/ wheezy/updates main contrib non-free

Can these be set as default for these server locations?

                      Thanks

                      • Show current total hourly, daily and monthly cost on the "servers" screen

It would be nice if on the server's page that shows all of our droplets, if there was a small little area that had the total hourly, daily and monthly cost for all droplets and any other additional services we may have.

That way at a glance you can see "Ok, so with what I have right now that will cost me $2 per day..." etc. That way people who need to keep track of the costs can and people who need a group of droplets for a short time can know how much it will cost total for them…

Can we have Oracle Linux: Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel Release 2 (2.6.39) available for Centos droplets as pre-compiled kernels ?

It is possible to switch from Centos to Oracle: http://linux.oracle.com/switch/centos/, you got 100% binary-compatible with Red Hat Enterprise Linux, yes, this is just like CentOS. Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel Release 2 includes many new features as well as numerous performance and scalability improvements for free.

                          • Become a cloudflare hosting partner

I'm not aware of all the benefits or costs of you becoming a cloudflare hosting partner but apparently it means we will get access to the Railgun feature which is usually reserved for sites on the premium business package. Railgun is a seriously cool and useful tool for dynamic websites:
                            http://www.cloudflare.com/railgun
I think as coldflare becomes more ubiquitous for website owners, this will be a highly attractive feature!

                              • add slave DNS to the DNS manager

The new DNS manager looks nice, but one feature that's missing is the ability to have the Digital Ocean servers serve as slave DNS servers performing zone transfers (AXFR/IXFR) from our droplets. Other hosts provide this, which reduces the DNS load on droplets.

                                  • View logs directly from the panel!

It would be nice if I could view files from /var/log or depending on the server where it holds the logs, without the need to connect through console or using third party software.

                                    • Show which domains are responsible for referrals

I would love to be able to see which of my domains are responsible for clicks and referrals at https://www.digitalocean.com/user_referrals

                                      • Can you move the password incorrect bar?

                                        Morning

Clearly I'm blind but when signing in, it took me ages to notice the pink error bar at the top of the screen.

I got grumpy thinking there was something wrong with the form until I spotted the cheeky little chappie.

Just an idea, might save some other folks the same grumpiness :)

                                        • Anycast

There is no VPS provider that has a decent product supporting anycast. It would be great if you did.

This way, I could have servers in multiple locations with the same public IP address. Users are likely to get routed to the closest.
