I suggest you ...

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can support and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can support it.

  1. More IPv4 addresses

More than one ip for a VM would be great. A small subnet maybe ..

    • Enable Linux Security Modules parameters to the boot loader

At the moment, I cannot enable AppArmor support on Debian Wheezy as there is no facility to add the following snippet in the boot loader:

      " apparmor=1 security=apparmor"

      • Have the articles source from github so we can submit pull requests for improvements

Documentation often gets out of date quickly. Allow the community to easily keep it up to date!

        • Add images with X2GO preinstalled

You offer many linux distros but will be nice if you offer some ubuntu distros with X2GO preinstalled exactly like OVH offers into their servers. I tryed many remote desktop solutions and X2GO was the most stable and fast, thats why OVH choose it.
I know that i can install bymyself X2GO and build a snapshot but offer image with a remote desktop solution preinstalled is a must nowadays. Just my opinion.

          • Make "read more" on digital ocean links or buttons

At https://www.digitaloceanstatus.com/ right now, the "Read More" items for each update are actually just styled divs with attached JS behaviour (using the data-toggle attribute). Could you please make them either buttons or actual links (linking to # is fine) as is done in all examples at http://twitter.github.io/bootstrap/javascript.html. This is useful for any browsers or browser extensions which support highlighting of clickable links. e.g. vimium+chrome, vimfx+firefox, pentadactyl+firefox, xombrero, dwb, luakit. The "History" button at the bottom of the page for instance has identical styling, and is correctly identified as a link in the HTML.

Kind of going along with PCI Cimpliancy, a HIPPA compliant environment would greatly benefit all of the companies scrambling to update and keep their applications HIPPA compliant

              • AVX instruction set support

AVX is an extension to the x86 instruction set for floating point processing supporting 256-bit SIMD registers. AVX2 also supports 256-bit integer processing.

Here are some applications from the wikipedia page:
                - Suitable for floating point-intensive calculations in multimedia, scientific and financial applications (integer operations are expected in later extensions).
                - Increases parallelism and throughput in floating point SIMD calculations.
                - Reduces register load due to the non-destructive instructions.
                - Improves Linux RAID software performance

                • Free DNS name for all droplets

Similar to EC2, it would be cool if we had a free DigitalOcean DNS record set to our droplet's IP so we can use that to connect and use instead of just the IP.

eg. something like ip-here.dodroplets.com; you get the idea.

                  • Add payment/Paypal link to invoice email

Basically there should be an ability to pay the invoices directly from the email, without having to log into Digital Ocean. Either thru a direct link to a payment page, or to a Paypal invoice. The kicker is to not have to input my username & password and navigate thru the control panel just to pay a bill. A unique payment link with an embedded verification code would suffice.

                    • Use the equiv of qemu’s -cpu host

I don’t know how you start the VMs; if it involves a call to qemu-sysem-x86_64 or the like, please use «-cpu host».

Making the underlying cpu’s support for the aes, avx, fma, et al instructions work on the VMs will significantly improve tls/ssh performance.

It also will make your service more inviting for cloudy rendering and the like. Which should generate revenue.

                      • Field for Snapshot Notes

When creating a snapshot all users to write notes with the snapshot. say 4000+ characters so that we can write down ./configure options on the server for that snapshot so when I recompile PHP i can see what was and wasn't enabled on the last/current version.

                        • Payments in advance through CC

I need to pay in advance via credit card.

I have to rely on the server existing for a period of time no matter what money are there on the CC or if the CC expired at some point.

Alternatively, you could introduce a 3 months of yearly payment cycle?

                          Thanks!

                              • Cannot copy image name in the new control panel

I like to create incremental images of my droplets, every time adding something new to the configuration of the droplet. That way I can revert to different "safe" points. Over the time the droplet name will grow to something like this: vanilla + option 1 + option 2 + etc...
When creating a new image I used to copy the name of the previous one and add the new configuration name. I can no longer do this since the new control panel trims the image name. It's rather annoying having to write all of it all over again simple because…

                                • API: "reset root password" method change request

The reset root password api method send by email the new droplet root password to the digitalocean client email. If you are reselling digital ocean vps your client have no way to know the root password. The "reset root password" should return the new root password instead of just an sucessful answer.

                                  • Add UKSM options

It would be nice if there were UKSM options in the kernel list.

It would allow that 5$ package stretch further for a lot of people.

                                    • When rebuilding, let me choose the ssh keys

Currently when rebuilding the control panel doesn't let me choose the ssh keys I want. Maybe I want to include new ones, added since the droplet was first created; maybe I want to drop keys I deem insecure.

It's not just about convenience: having this feature would ensure that the droplet keeps the same IP.

                                      Cheers!

                                      • Share an Image w/Another Account

It'd be really nice to be able to share images (i.e. snapshots that we've taken) with other accounts by "inviting" them, or simply entering in their DigitalOcean e-mail address, which would then send them an e-mail letting them know (or perhaps a special DO pin #). This would especially be useful if you're working with a developer/administrator or even a business partner and you want to share a setup/configuration.

As an example, we just configured a rather time consuming LNVMP stack (CentOS, NGINX, Varnish, MySQL, PHP-FPM) and to prevent us from having to continually do the exact same setup on…

                                        • Add Zend Load Balancer as an image for our droplets.

Zend Load Balancer is an easy-to-use software load balancing solution with a web control panel that anyone looking for a full-featured load balancer can install onto a droplet.

The load balancer is fully featured, and allows us to manage our own fully features software load balancer. Many details can be found on their website:

                                          http://www.zendloadbalancer.com

I'm sure it doesn't take more than a few minutes to allow us access to different OS installs, so providing this as an option will likely be quite useful to anyone needing a decent solution to load balancing.
