Your feedback drives our design process. Your votes count! Let us know what you want to see from the DigitalOcean cloud.

I suggest you ...

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can support and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can support it.

  1. Improve the billing area

The billing always seems to be confusing to me. It displays credits I have, what I owe, how much I've spent, etc. but I don't know if I owe money, if I'm going to owe money soon, how much I will owe, when I'll owe it, if I'm late on a payment, etc.

It would be nice to have a number of what I currently owe and what I have on balance, then maybe a third displaying how much I'll need to pay after the credits are used. I don't want it to show me how much I've used that…

    • Add a feature to copy an image

I'd like to be able to copy an existing image to a new name. That would enable me to work on the copy without having to modify the original image, so that I can still launch new droplets with a known good state image.

          • Allow customers to add devices for TFA without having to disable and re-enable it

I carry two phones, my Android phone (personal) and my iPhone (business). TFA is enabled on my account and I use Google Authenticator on both devices.

Recently I dropped and broke my Android phone, and had to replace it. Re-installing Authenticator was no big deal, but in order to get the QR code, I had to disable and then re-enable TFA, meaning I had to remove the DigitalOcean account from Authenticator on my iPnone - the phone I did not have to replace.

Here's how I suggest you handle it...
Generate the QR code when TFA is turned on. Then,…

            • Make the interface for changing the kernel better

The interface you provide for changing the kernel of a droplet is incredibly annoying and error-prone.

For one thing, you should provide a separate drop-down for i686 vs x86_64 and filter the list of kernels based on the value of that drop-down, so I don't have to scan through a ton of kernels that my droplet can't actually use. Even better would be to do that filtering automatically, since I believe you already know which droplets are 32-bit and which are 64-bit when they're created.

For another, the sorting is wrong -- it's lexical rather than logical based on the…

              • DNS page Idea: Add current dns entires in the list.

The current DNS page shows all domains and the available actions. To check if a domain is done propagating, or which DNS the domain uses or which CNAME is set, you have to go to each domains. If you have more than 10 ... this can be anoying. Here's what I suggest:

                1) Add a "view info" that can shows the information,
                2) The inforation shown can be the ns records, cname, etc...
                3) and if a domain is not propagated yet, you can see a message like: Zone File - DNS is propagating

                View image: https://i.imgur.com/UZVSCk4.png

                Thanks,

                • Support more than one phone number for 2-step auth SMS backup

It's super handy if you travel and use multiple phone numbers or if you simply lose your phone (I'd set up a home number or a number of a trusted person, e.g. spouse). Google does that.

                  • Provide a firewall droplet with IDS / IPS

Security is getting a bigger problem every day
Currently we have a hybrid cloud using firewalls with IPS / IDS to prevent attacks in an early stage
Nobody on the web is providing such a solution yet and this would be a great benefit for server admins

                    • Are you sure you want to power cycle?

There should be an "are you sure" prompt for anything which involves the immediate shutdown/reset of a droplet.

Somehow I have actually managed to accidentally power cycle a droplet in a production environment at a peak time.

                      • GEO DNS Service (visitor goes to the geographically closest droplet)

GEO DNS + Multiple droplets.. is more than AWESOME setup..!!

I'd love to see this service soon in DO, where you can create several droplets in several data centers and point your DNS zones toward these droplet.

Visitors from NY for example get served by NY Droplet(s), Visitors from AMS get served by AMS Droplet(s).

This way, you can build your own CDN within few moments, and get your websites performance-extra-charged.

Its possible to get a list of IDs for a given resource from the generic endpoints in the API of course, but it would still be very useful to be able to get this information from the website as well

Kolab provides an email server, group contacts, calendar, etc. Installing is a bit tricky, but it's a sorely needed service (especially the email part). MyKolab.com offers managed, but much more expensive hosting. DO could do it better!

                                • Allow authorized users to transfer droplets to their accounts

Let's say droplets are used for business. It would be great to ensure that the business keeps on if for any reason the owner of the droplets could not manage them anymore. An authorized user on one-self's account could transfer droplets at any time to their accounts (also with same the IP address).

As a security measure, a mail with a link could be send to the original owner if he would want to have the droplet back within a certain period of time.

                                    • Attach invoice PDF with 1st of month email notification...

Please attach the invoice PDF to the 1st of the month email notification. Or make it a settings options for users to have this. It would just make accounts filing easier as I'd have a copy of the invoice without having to log in to my account and download each an every invoice. Cheers!

                                      • Create Application that mimics the Travis-CI build environment

Travis-CI is a Continuous Integration test environment used on many github projects. It currently uses Ubuntu 12.04LTS with a number of standard applications already installed. (http://docs.travis-ci.com/user/ci-environment/) It would save me a lot of time if I could build a droplet that perfectly reflects the travis-ci build environment.

This capability would allow open source developers to get up and running more quickly. All the user would have to do is check that the master branch on github passes the travis build, clone the repo and build the project to get a dev environment up and running.

                                        • Show the CPU core count whenever you show ram/disk for an existing droplet

Pretty self explanatory. We use Java (Clojure) and knowing the core count is important from a performance perspective thanks to the multi-threaded nature of everything we use.
