  1. Provide pfsense as an option for droplets

I want a PFSense instance at digitalocean I really want to be able to instantiate a cloud based VPN solution for cheap.

        • Provision and show IP addresses immediately

When creating a new dropplet, I usually need to update my DNS servers with information on the new server.

The current process requires me to create a droppet, wait ~60 seconds for the dropplet to be created, grab the IP, push the changes to my DNS infrastructure, and then connect.

If the system could be modified to immediately allocate and display an IP address on the 'waiting' screen, I could cut my provisioning time down a bit.

It's a small and probably rather unimportant change in the grand scheme of things, but it would make the workflow a bit better.

            • Show private IP addresses also in the table of droplets

It would be very useful if the table at https://cloud.digitalocean.com/droplets could also show the private IP address for droplets that have private networking enabled. It could for instance be shown in gray color below the public IP address.

                  • Better DNS Table Design in Control Panel

In the new Control Panel, the "Droplets" table has lots of helpful information and is just the right size to view a lot of information at-a-glance.

The DNS table, however, is spread out with nothing more than the domain name. In most cases, people will have *far* more data to display regarding DNS (domain names) than they will Droplets.

Can you apply the Droplets' table design to the DNS table?

                    Some specific ideas:

                    1. The domain name should be a link to the "view" details (instead of the magnifying glass)
                    2. Show which Droplet the domain points to, including its…

                    • Show a more exact "Initiated" time on the history.

On the history the Initiated just states the number of days since the action happened, and it is more vague for older events with all being "about a month" ago. It would be useful to have the exact time accurate to at least the minute if not the second.

                        • Add an option to install bonic

It would be cool to add an option to install bonic (configured to have the least impact on other services, but still make use of unused hardware).

This would mean that by default, if that option is enabled it would donate all unused hardware resources to cloud computing projects such as worldcommunitygrid.org.

You could also create a team for digitalocean, which would generate some press and good will towards digital ocean.

                          • Digital Ocean Mail Server

                            Hey Guys, Great service!.

I've just moved over from Web Faction to you and I am loving the service so far but I am missing one feature. A mail server. Web Faction ran a global mail server which all users could send and receive mail from. It was possible to add email addresses and mail boxes from the control panel and I think that this would be a great addition to DO. I wouldn't mind paying extra for it either.

Would this be something that would be considered?

                            • Snapshot queuing system

Instead of shutting down your droplet to create a snapshot, you are able to apply for a snapshot window. Digital Ocean will then give you a time frame where you can quickly shutdown your droplet and an estimate of how long it would take. The snapshot would be actioned immediately when the user does the snapshot procedure instead of waiting around.

This would solve, shutting the server down, doing a snapshot (which seems to work straight away or 30mins later) and powering back on.

It would be nice if you could have an Ubuntu instance without root access, but with a user defined username with full root access through sudo. Just as when you install an Ubuntu server yourself.

                                  • Deploy to physically separated hardware

If you have MySQL with master-slave setup and both are on the same physical host, you're totally screwed when there is a hardware failure - both master and slave are dead and there's no point in even doing replication.

Or, if you have 2 Rails application servers and they are on the same host, it's an SPOF.

In other words, whenever you have multiple droplets in a project, you need to confirm if any combination of droplets are on the same host or not.

Right now, we have to write a support ticket to confirm if those droplets aren't on…

                                      Hey everyone,

You can now see which, if any, of your droplets are running on the same hardware by hitting the API. The endpoints are:

                                      /v2/droplets/:id/neighbors
                                      /v2/reports/droplet_neighbors

You can read more about how to leverage this new feature in the API changelog: https://developers.digitalocean.com/changelog/

Thanks again for helping us make DO better!

                                    • Add a progress bar when transferring images globally

When clicking on the Globe icon to make your image available globally, a spinner is displayed to indicate activity.

It would be nice if that could rather be a progress bar and ETA.
I've been waiting for a long time now and not sure when or how far it is from completing.

Linode provides this and is handy in knowing how long something is going to take.

                                      • Put whether image is x86/x86_64-Bit bit in API name property

Currently there is no way to know if I am creating a 32 or 64-Bit instance using the API.

This will make deploying new services easier so that devs can focus on their software instead of setting up a server.
