  1. Publicly access for droplet VNC view via API

We have a requirement that we need to access given droplet console access via publicly (which is same as provided under given droplet-> Access -> Console access [Launch Console Access]), which can be droplet VNC view via noVNC.

For example: for this, we can use API -> Retrieve an existing Droplet by id [https://developers.digitalocean.com/documentation/v2/#retrieve-an-existing-droplet-by-id] and it may contain the public url for that droplet console access.

Q: Could you explain why you need this though or how you would use it?
A: We need this as we have a application that provides lab environments (for a lab there…

      • Attach billing invoices to email as a PDF

Currently, when Digital Ocean sends its monthly billing invoice via email it doesn't attach the invoice to the email. Instead it gives a link to access the invoice, which is hosted elsewhere. This is nonsensical because it causes unnecessary additional steps in our Accounts Payable process when we're attaching invoices to expense payments.

Most SaaS/IaaS providers (i.e. GSuite, AWS etc) attach their monthly invoice as a PDF within an email and DO NOT require the customer to access the invoice elsewhere via a link.

Our organisation would benefit greatly if the invoices are simply attached as a PDF in the…

        • object tagging spaces

Provide support for Object Tagging in Spaces.

With tagging, we can start to build highly searchable media galleries.

          • Make Spaces API as simple as possible without trying to mimic Amazon S3

Make Spaces API as simple as possible without trying to mimic Amazon S3 for compatibility with existing libraries.
One of the key reasons lots of developers do move to Digital Ocean from AWS is because its simplicity and modern-developer-oriented approach.
Seeing xml responses instead of json and tons of ad-hoc headers was a punch in our face: we were excited while waiting Spaces to come out and we thought it was going to come out with some cool-yet-simple APIs like Digital Ocean's style.
This is my team biased opinion.

            • Add a one-click blockchain installation

MongoDB wrote a white paper on how implement the blockchain specs in mongodb. See here https://www.mongodb.com/collateral/building-enterprise-grade-blockchain-databases-with-mongodb

Or at least tutorials on how to do this.

              • New Tokyo data center, instead of Australia

We are very interested to use digital ocean, but latency from Singapore data center to major markets like Australia is too slow.

I'm suggesting Tokyo, instead of Sydney, because using references from AWS and GCP, Tokyo's average latency to major Asia markets like Syndey, Singapore, Taiwan/HongKong appear to be the best, compare to their Data centers in Sg or Sydney (dont ask me why)

                Here are the references:
                AWS: https://www.cloudping.co/
                GCP: https://geekflare.com/google-cloud-latency/

                • Remove IPv6 TCP/25 filters

Please remove the IPv6 TCP/25 filters.

It would probably be easiest to do this globally but an alternative would be to remove the filters for specific droplets when requested.

                    • Support HTTP/2 on load balancers

Digital Ocean's new load balancers only support HTTP 1.1. The text protocol and lack of multiplexing in HTTP 1.1 means it's MUCH slower than HTTP/2.

One of the pages on our site loads in 600ms on nginx running HTTP/2, and 1.8s on HTTP 1.1. We'd love to be able to use DO Load Balancrs but the slowdown isn't worth it.

                        • Allow GRE packets through the firewall

Currently the DO firewall filters IP Protocol 47 (GRE) packets, which interferes with pptp vpn links. If GRE packets were added to the list, along with ICMP, IPv4 and IPv6, this would allow the use of PPTP VPNs (see e.g. https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-setup-your-own-vpn-with-pptp) and other VPNs that utilize GRE packets, such as IPSec

                          • Hide hide company address from members

At the moment team members with role 'Member' cannot access invoices and credit card information, but can see the team postal address.

I run business from home and subcontract an external team for administering my droplets. I would prefer them not to see my home address.

I tired to remove the address data from the team settings, but this causes the address to disappear from the invoices, which is not ideal.

It would be good to keep the address in the invoices, but hide it from tech-only ('Member') team members.

                            • Require entering the name of your droplet before deletion

Basically what the title says. This would save much heartache for many people.

                                    {"name":"[SERVER-PREFIX-core","region":"lon1","size":"1gb","image":"ubuntu-16-04-x64","backups":"false","ipv6":"false","private_networking":"true","monitoring":"true","user_data":"","tags":["[SERVER-PREFIX]","[SERVER-PREFIX]-core-server","monitor"]}

                                    #2
                                    {"name":"[SERVER-PREFIX-db1","region":"lon1","size":{"command":"server:stack-database","clientname":"abott","databaseserver-size":"2gb"},"image":"centos-7-x64","backups":"false","ipv6":"false","private_networking":"true","monitoring":"true","tags":["[SERVER-PREFIX]","[SERVER-PREFIX]-db","monitor"]}

In #2 payload, the size is an object, not a string, but the API kept returning:

string(88) "{"id": "internal_server_error", "message": "Server was unable to give you a response." }"

                                    Not very useful.

                                    • Re Visiting the Group Pay Feature!

There is an idea posted in 2013 about a group pay feature and it was closed for some reason that is not acceptable and the comments on it were good. The feature is being able to allow people to donate directly to the service that is being host instead of a paypal account. This helps insure that the people that use my service know their money is going to the service and not in my pocket but also so I don't have to worry about going through my finances and not have to wonder what money goes where or accidentally…

                                      • Datacenter in Morocco

Hi guys, there are many DO users from Africa, and I'm suggesting Morocco to build a nearby datacenter for African users.
                                        Thanks

                                        • Add support for user-data on your bsd images

With the current bsd-cloudinit support y'all get to configure the network/routing stuff, but users have to ssh to each droplet to bootstrap their own configurations. Personally I just need to install salt, drop its config and give it an ssh key to my git repo.

As far as I can tell, the other choiec is paying for the storage of my own "base image" with a hacked version of bsd-cloudinit.

A patch is already available, it just needs to be added to droplets by default:
                                          https://github.com/pellaeon/bsd-cloudinit/pull/26/commits/097cba1d89f4fa8e3c824df5d619234286fc0cb3

It would be really nice to not have to hand-tune each instance as I…
