  1. More powerful load balancers

You should improve your load balancer to support higher session rates (especially with SSL). We would be happy to pay extra money (e.g. $40, $80, $160, etc.) to have load balancers with high performance.

Currently this is a huge problem for us: we cannot scale.

At the moment your load balancers are a bottleneck and cannot handle more than 1,000 requests / s (without keep alive and with SSL enabled).

The same limit of 1,000 requests / s also applies to custom installations of HAProxy on DO... probably your hardware is not optimized for SSL and scaling the droplet /…

Thanks for your feedback! We are aware of some limitations and constraints on our current offering.

We are currently investigating and planning to implement better scalability and performance for our Load Balancer service in the coming months.

      • Tighten up security on load balancers.

Digital Ocean load balancers currently accept TLS1.0 and ciphers with short keys which have been confirmed to be a security risk. Clients that use a load balancer for their application will most likely not pass security audits because of this.

        TLS1.0
        ======
Load balancers currently still accept TLS1.0 which has been confirmed vulnerable to POODLE attacks as of December 2014. Only very old browsers do not support TLS1.1 and TLS1.2 (e.g. Internet Explorer 9 and below) which have a negligible market share by now (see, for example, https://help.salesforce.com/articleView?id=000220586&language=en_US&type=1).

All TLS1.0 cypher suites should be disabled.

        • In the High-CPU class of droplets, offer a single CPU option for single-threaded apps (like haproxy)

Currently, in the High-CPU class of droplets, the lowest package has 2 dedicated CPUs. It would be nice if there was a single-CPU package for single-threaded apps, like haproxy.

We’re currently looking into having a 1vCPU High-CPU Droplet. The current set of plans just launched about a month ago but we’ll be regularly reviewing feedback and making changes going forward. I’ll update this request once things get updated.

          • Stop interrogating paying clients

After trying to request for a new volume this is the response I get from Digital Ocean.

              Hi Christian,

Thank you for the feedback. Striking a balance between usability and preventing abuse is important to us. We are taking your feedback under review to determine where we can make improvements in our product and processes.

              Thank you again.

            • Shared storage, NFS as service

Please, you must consider offer shared storage (NFS, Gluster, ...) as service.
Deploy NFS using droplets is too slow, cannot use for production systems.
Shared storage is critcal to provide high availability in webservers.

We are definitely looking at this. NFS as a service is actually one of the tricker storage as a service offerings to get right. There’s pros and cons to doing it and it is not something we have decided for or against, just know that it is on or list of potential future offerings that we have and will continue to consider. If we feel there is a mature enough technology to build on we will definitely consider it!

              • I know they cost a fortune, but I would love an Australian server!

Because most of the traffic going to my server would be Australia I would love it if you added one, I wouldn't mind paying extra for it either!
