You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.

  1. S3 / Object Storage alternative

As title says - it would be great if you would offer Amazon S3 storage alternative in same datacenters where we are hosting main sites.

    • Improve customer experience during DDOS attacks

Currently if you get a DDOS attack your server loses all internet facing networking ability, effectively cutting off your access to the internet on your droplet. Other providers provide more direct protection rather than just shutting your net down. Such as OVH's technology and approach detailed here: http://www.ovh.com/us/anti-ddos/ I would prefer digital ocean over any other provider based on my experiences, but the DDOS issue is the last remaining concern. If other providers are providing protection to customers rather than just cutting their customers internet, then I believe with all the money digital ocean has they should be able to…

      • Keep Arch Linux on DigitalOcean

        Hi all,

I really love Arch Linux so much, but DO is trying to move that out. I hope that you guys can try to vote for the fantastic distro to keep it on DO.

The following is the letter that I just wrote to the support ticket.
        ----

I'm very surprised about the maintainability of Arch Linux. Personally, I'm a heavy user of Arch, I do love the distro. Arch Linux is a contemporary minimalist Linux distribution. It provides a very clean, lightweight distribution of the Linux operating system.

While I was trying to launch another Arch server on…

        • DataCenter in Chile

It would be great to have a DC here in Chile. The economy and government is stable.

Also, Google is already building a DC here! https://www.google.com/about/datacenters/inside/locations/quilicura/

                • Make it a bit more clear that even powered off droplets still count towards running costs.

I understand the technical reasoning as to why you would charge for droplets that are turned off but I didn't know this without traversing 3 pages deep into the help section. I was going to call and complain that not only did I lose my $10 LAS credit but that I was charged $3. Granted, $3 isn't a lot and it clearly states in the FAQs that I would be charged but (knowing that know) I feel a little butt-hurt that I lost a good amount of "free" testing time.

                      • Add IPv6 to other datacenters

Currently only a few datacenters support IPv6. In particular I would like IPv6 at sfo.

                        • Give users IPv6 /64 blocks when you roll out IPv6

As you guys are testing IPv6 in the Singapore region, I highly recommend you give users a /64 each when IPv6 rolls out. This is proper practice, and gives users more flexibility in terms of address selection.

Currently if a droplet is created without automatic backups enabled, the option to backup that droplet becomes unavailable. This should be something we can turn on and off at any time.

ed25519 keys are short, standard, and secure. The response in https://digitalocean.uservoice.com/forums/136585-digitalocean/suggestions/5915081-support-ed25519-ssh-keys is incorrect, as pointed out in its comments; ed25519 support is built into OpenSSH 6.5 and later.

Sometimes when you want to put some credit via paypal and you want to put $15 for example, you need to do 2 transactions. When you are dealing with international payment, it can also be charged for the number of transactions you are doing... It is not much indeed, but what would be the problem of having the user type how much he/she wants?

I would like to be able to build a One Click application for my application with out direct oversight by DO. I would like something very similar to the Heroku Button ideally.

                                        • At a specific, recurring, reliable date and time (say one day a week, or even a month) add the latest kernel to the list

At the moment updating a VM kernel is touch and go. DigitalOcean's boot manager limitations mean that you can't install a kernel and reboot the machine into it. Instead you have to install a kernel (that exactly matches one available in the list) then select it from the dropdown in the admin interface. Many CentOS users update using yum update and bring all packages, including the kernel, up to the latest version.

That would be manageable (for 10s of 100s of VMs) if the list was frequently updated, but it's sporadic. The support team are very helpful and will update…
