REFERRAL PROGRAM
since you have good services and good prices, a referral program would be nice too, for making more money for both you guys and us ... :)
The referral program is now live and you can browse it directly at:
https://www.digitalocean.com/user_referrals
Or access it under the settings tab:
https://www.digitalocean.com/settings
Deploy coming in a few minutes =]

I think the refcode or affiliate id is something that is common to most websites but open to hearing more feedback on it.
Thanks

I would prefer that it doesn't say "refcode" as a URL parameter. Make me feel like I'm cheating them of something so awesome that I should be just sharing for "free"..if that makes any sense. :\

We are launching the referral program in beta and wanted to announce it here first.
https://www.digitalocean.com/user_referrals
If all goes well we will be officially announcing it next wednesday.
Thanks!

If you are having a problem with CJ commissions please email mitch@ directly and he'll take care of it.
Thanks

Before you start your useless referral program, issue the affiliate payments for the CJ affiliates. You have already owed me $149 affiliate commissions

We are pushing the new CP to production today if all goes well and officially announcing it next week after we've worked out a few bugs which I'm sure will pop-up over the weekend.
Then we will be officially announcing the Referral program next week baring any unforeseen circumstances! =]

@Sebastian: If you're moving people off of GoDaddy and onto a DigitalOcean VPS they are purchasing of their own you are providing a disservice to both your customer and yourself! Since they are coming from GoDaddy they are not in need of much more than just basic hosting services. You are missing out on a recurring revenue stream that is slapping you in the face!
I would offer those customers my very own hosting services, at $5/mo and place them all on a VPS together within their own virtual host.

I feel the best (incentive) option for the Referral Program is "Credit Based". This definitely brings a sort of genuine attention both from the Current and Prospective Customers. And you always have options to refine the approach.

There are only a couple of statuses with UserVoice and we use them as follows:
No Status / Open = Waiting for more votes or more discussions from customers
UnderReview = Interesting, but not yet approved
Planned = Approved and we will implement at some point
Started = Code development has begun
Completed = Done! yay
In the case of the Referral program is pretty much finished but it will be launched with the new control panel which is in the works - its about 60% finished

@Kerem , a lot of referal programs are bad. So yes, by association, this program might be looked down upon. However, it's better to have a referral to a very good service, rather than the one willing to pay the most. For example: Rackspace. They have a good referral program, but their services are 4x the price of DigitalOcean. It'll let the people that refer for money to refer to a better service. It's too bad that the current customer of GoDaddy I'm moving won't get to use the referral program (paying $10/mo for shared hosting and 10x the page load time of DO's cheapest server). But I'm not too broken up about it; it would just be nice to get a bonus for it. Hopefully the great service will override the connotations.
