I like what DO, but sometimesI need more diskspace than I need power and RAM. Are you guys currently looking at custom diskspace?
Cloud Storage not on the actual VPS, but linked via private internet
I personally use my 20GB SSD 1GB RAM droplet for hosting multiple sites. I am running out of room, but I cannot afford to pay twice what I am paying now for only 10GB more SSD space, and I do not need the extra CPU and RAM. It would be great to be able to buy extra space without extra power!
Since all idea about add more disk space are declined.
How about provide us add on disk that can be mount as NFS disk share. non SSD disk are welcome.
Or provide different droplet template with more non SSD disk with less RAM and CPU for it, to let us install our NFS solution.
I would like to use a server as backup server, so the memory and cpu of the smalles vps is working for me, just add a plan with increased storage (1 TB would be great).

I believe I will have to move away from Digital Ocean due lack of this feature. We need extra block storage.

I Actualy would like to have to option to get additional to the fast ssd based app server an additional storage on slower disks (to store a few pictures and stuff on it)
Additional storage options would definitely increase my use of DO
Voted for this but moved on at this point because of this problem. Can't afford to let business opportunities pass by simply because of using Digital Ocean.
Also, wanted to annoy Riccardo Crackhead a bit: Get up and go for a walk before you have heart attack or an aneurysm. No one cares about your internal dialogue.

Hey, if you are thinking of adding yet another comment saying:
"It's keeping me from using DO"
"Why isn't this implemented yet??? Unbelievable!!111!!1"
... don't. Seriously don't do it. It won't help one iota to move this forward. The only thing that your useless comment will help is in making the people that are watching the comments on this feature request go insane (and then write stupid comments like this one)! Want to help move this forward? Click on the button to the left that says "Vote". That's it. Your job here is done, move along.
I think by now everybody already knows there are lots of people that "really need this feature". If you want to complain that DO sucks because it doesn't have this feature, go write a blog post, tweet, or something.
Want to say "I really support this idea"? Also, don't. We already know you support it if you vote. Thank you very much.
Q: What about a simple "+1" (or "+3)) comment? That doesn't hurt anybody right?
A: Yes it does. It's spam. It's like getting punched and the guy that punched you says "punch!" after punching you. Will it help the punch hurt anymore? Nope, so it's not necessary.
Q: Do you work for DO?
A: No, but I would also like to get this feature, and I would also like to receive useful comments by the devs, explaining the progress.
Q: You don't you just turn off the comment notifications?
A: Because then I wouldn't be able to receive notifications when there are useful comments (see above question).
I would like to add my vote for extra storage. It's the one feature that is keeping us from moving our servers to Digital Ocean.

My guess is that they're holding off on releasing disk storage because the amount of new customers may overload their systems.

Any update here? We're planning to use digital ocean, but we need a feature to purchase additional storage as we need.
Sorry to + this again, but I definitely need this or I'm going to have to switch to AWS, I have a photography app that uploads photos to another application I built and they sometimes drop more photos in than space available on the disk, this is much needed for me!
+3 votes. Guys plz hurry up. Whats the ETA on this.
The ability to have flexible storage is crucial to like 80% of my clients and now all of them are using AWS, just because of that.
It is high time DO implement similar solution as Amazon EBS!
There is no need to be SSD based or super fast - just the performance need to be predictable and consistent.
.... We are now in the era of Big Data
So just last week I built yet another system for a big client and I STILL could not recommend DO to them BECAUSE of this as they will be storing lots of data. That's one more client that has gone on to use AWS because of this long-standing matter. Just thought I'd put it out there so the good folks at DO can understand how implementing this, (at this point BEFORE any other thing they may be working on) is key to it's growth.
I really hate turning corporate clients away from DO because I love using it for my own projects, but I cannot in my right mind recommend it to them in the current state.
Guys, This is by far THE most important feature you should be working on right now.
any update or an ETA ?

New customer here who would seriously be considering DO for some of our other services except for this - without the ability to add additional storage it precludes DO from uses in a wide range of applications.

Any update on this at all? It's a year since the last message and no change.
This is a massive issue for me and everybody else who use DO or would like to use DO. Adding storage to a server is of the most importance, it's why Amazon EC2 and S3 is so successful and it's why they host enterprise level sites, not just hobbyists.
Please provide an ETA for this feature. As of now the project/feature is planned, but doesn't have an ETA.
Thanks and we all look forward to additional storage capabilities!
I can't stress how important this feature is for anyone doing serious work. Unless you're aiming to only have hobbyists as your client base, do make storage available for VPS.

+3 for database usage. Ideal would be AWS EBS latency, but with consistent performance.

+3 from me too. I cannot justify a switch to DO until this is available
